Forum Thread: What are your favorite plants to grow?

Edibles, because you get a great return on investment: food.

  • Peaches - unfortunately they're only in season for 3 weeks at a time, but man, what a glorious 3 weeks it is!
  • Lemons - this is the gift that keeps on giving all year round.
  • Artichokes - totally awesome.

I am a newbie to edibles, I recently bought dwarf trees: Panamint nectarine, Meyer lemon, orange, apple (I realize I need two of them to pollinate), and Chicago fig.  Iam looking forward to see what they do, if anything.  My ground space is limited so I'm leaving them in the containers.  Did you feed your fig tree to get it to be that large?

Hi!

Ooooh Meyer lemons! I love those.

No, our house sits on really good soil, so I don't have to do much to help our figs grow except water it and add fertilizer/compost occasionally. They come out nicely sweet. The only problem is that we get overwhelmed with them!
